SPACEBAR ORIGIN STORY
Spacebar was opened in 2012 in Falls Church as the DC area’s first restaurant dedicated to the grilled cheese sandwich. Owners Lary and Erica Hoffman (also of Galaxy Hut) designed and built out the space to focus on a streamlined open kitchen and DIY custom-built 24-tap beer dispensers. As their historic Arlington craft beer bar Galaxy Hut has long been known for their grilled cheeses and tater tots, these items were hyper-focused on at Spacebar, with 20 signature sandwiches and infinite options for custom sandwiches and “totchos.”

WHAT IS GALAXY HUT?
Galaxy Hut opened in 1990 as the DC area’s first craft beer bar, and the first bar in the now booming Clarendon nightlife district of Arlington, Virginia. Galaxy Hut’s 28 taps are constantly in flux, with a focus on small-batch and hard to find offerings. Galaxy Hut’s kitchen focuses on hand-held comfort food, with everything on the menu available vegan as well as meat-laden. One year we went completely vegetarian and people got mad. Since the early 1990s, Galaxy Hut has hosted local and national indie-rock bands a couple nights per week, and holds a crucial place in DC’s musical history.
